Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid from the cannabis Sativa plant that has become increasingly popular for medicinal use. The entire buzz around CBD means that the market is saturated with related products. The wide range of available products—from edibles to topical ointment—may make it difficult to choose the right one for you.

Working out the correct dosage of CBD can be confusing—especially for those new to the therapeutic compound—because it is contingent on many unique variables. Everything from physical health, age, weight, and metabolism to the condition being treated and the CBD product being used all sustain an impact on dosage.

There is no definitive answer, but to help get you started, we have put together some essential information alongside guidelines on calculating the right dosage for you.

Start with a CBD oil you can trust

Choosing a CBD brand you can trust is fundamental, not only when it comes to accurate dosing, but also to ensure you get a quality product that contains everything it should, without any unwanted additives or chemicals.

CBD appears safe even in high doses—but start low and go slow

If there is one golden rule to complement our golden-grade CBD, it would be to start with a moderate dose and adjust accordingly. The potential of CBD lies in its ability to work with the endocannabinoid system and complement its ability to help restore balance. Balance does not mean flooding the body, no matter how positive the benefits of any given substance may be. If you think about other daily supplements or vitamins, the recommendations are usually to take them once a day. In these cases, less is often more.

Once you have established a moderate dose suited to your circumstances, it is then possible to increase the amount of CBD being consumed—if needed. So far, CBD has shown an excellent safety profile, and other than potential drug-drug interactions, the evidence does not show any public health-related problems associated with CBD.

What do the different percentages on our CBD products mean?

When we talk about the percentage of CBD, the figure refers to how many milligrams of CBD is within the oil. If we take our 2.5% CBD oil as an example, it contains 250mg, while our 4% oil contains 400mg. As the percentage of CBD increases, so too does the concentration. In a 10ml bottle of 2.5% CBD oil, buyers can expect around 200 drops, with each drop containing 1.25mg of CBD.

If you take an average daily dose of 3–4 drops, three times a day, that would mean consuming approximately 15mg of CBD (based on our 2.5% CBD oil). To give you some idea of the limitations, 160mg per day is seen as a recommended maximum amount for use as a supplement.

It is important to stress that everyone’s circumstances are not the same, and therefore dosage, will be different. Give yourself several days on a regular dosage to see how you feel before increasing or decreasing the amount of CBD as necessary.

In truth, it is a nearly impossible question to answer.
